So, this morning I woke up to find my System (not system.exe) process with insane 60,000 K memory usage, I accidentally read it as "system.exe" and was sure to have a virus, after a re-look, I found out it's the original process, but still didn't realize why it slows everything down so much, after a lot of searching, I have discovered it is caused to me and many others because of the AVG 8 Free Anti-Virus new update...

Re-installing AVG solved the problem, only to bring forth a new challenge, I need an Anti-Virus what do you use and how well does it work? I might give AVG another shot and see if the problem persists, but if there's anything better I could use, please let me know and I will appreciate it!

Panda sucks.
Trend-Micro sucks.
AVG... is free.
Norton works fine.
McAfee works fine.

I used Norton, McAfee, AVG, Avast, Trend Micro, F-Data, Ikarus, ClamWin ... but they all just don't scan properly & offer not the needed protection I want to have.

I use G-Data Internet Security now, and it's the best software with tons of awards with 2 parallell scan engines & http:// scan.
I bought the 3 licenses pack for EUR 70,00 and gave the other 2 licenses to my dad & brother. ;)

A friend of my brother works as a coder for an antivirus software company and he says himself that G-Data is the best scanner out right now. :D

Cheers,

Murdock :)

I have 15+ years exp. with Mcafee on a professionel basis and it often does the job.

Bullguard has a nice feature for gamers and i have installed it on several friends PCs, and i can recommend it.

Norton and CA i cant recommend.

G Data Antivirus i havnt tried, but there are many rewievs around praising the product so its worth a try.

I only use Avast now.

Works very well, even in the free version and it's light on the system.

Symantec lost they're quality (norton also) and they cripple the system. Kaspersky is also very powerfull, but heavy
